The guitar played by Alex Turner during Arctic Monkeys’ main stage set at Reading Festival in 2006 is up for grabs as part of a raffle to raise money for grassroots music venues affected by the pandemic.

The black Fender Stratocaster, which was also used during many of the band’s earliest performances, is the prize in a competition run in conjunction with Music Venue Trust (MVT).

It’s the latest fundraising scheme launched by MVT, which has fought on behalf of hundreds of small music venues across the country during the pandemic.

The Leadmill in Sheffield, which played host to Arctic Monkeys for a number of gigs during their formative years, is one of the venues in line to benefit from the prize draw.

Tickets to enter the raffle cost £5, and entrants can purchase as many as they wish. Anyone who enters will also gain access to an exclusive viewing of the band’s Reading Festival performance. The stream will begin at 8pm on Wednesday August 26 and will be available to watch for 24 hours.

Head here to enter the draw and for more info.

Music venues across the country are still closed under government restrictions. Indoor gigs were set to return from August 1, although this was later pushed back by Prime Minister Boris Johnson for “at least” a fortnight, bringing the earliest possible reopening date to August 15.
