Boomtown 2019 festival: Weather, tickets, line-up, location, map and more

The weather may be turning on us, but festival season is far from over, with several major music events still to look forward to.

This week sees the return of Boomtown to the Matterley Estate in Hampshire, where the festival has been held since 2011.

The four-day event is a prominent fixture of the UK festival calendar, known for its varied, sprawling line-ups and flamboyant, pyrotechnic stage designs.

Here’s everything you need to know about Boomtown 2019.

When is Boomtown 2019?

Boomtown kicks off on Wednesday July 7 and draws to a close on Sunday July 10.

Where is Boomtown?

Boomtown is held at the Matterley Estate near Winchester, Hampshire, which is part of the South Downs National Park.

This year, festival organisers are encouraging visitors to choose more environmentally friendly travel options, such as public transport.

As a result, there are a whole host of travel options to get you to and from the festival grounds, including National Express services to cities all over the UK and train and shuttle bus services.

Boomtown have also teamed up with Red Fox Cycling to give visitors the option of booking a cycle tour in conjunction with their tickets.

Who’s on the line-up?

Prophets of Rage will be headlining Boomtown.

Ms Lauryn Hill, Prophets of Rage and The Streets are all set to headline the festival, with appearances from Chronixx, Chase and Status, Groove Armada, Slaves, UB40 and Salt-N-Pepa.

House and Disco legends, Horse Meat Disco, Mall Grab and Skream are all performing DJ slots with Patrick Topping playing a full day set.

Weather forecast for Boomtown

Here’s what the weather’s looking like in Matterley Estate, according to the Met Office.

Wednesday

On the first day of the festival, the Met Office is forecasting sunny intervals which will turn cloudy by lunchtime, with highs of 22C.

However, heavy rain is predicted at 5pm before the sun breaks through the clouds again.

Thursday

Not much change for Thursday’s forecast, with sunny intervals turning cloudy by lunchtime.

Aside from a few light rain showers from 7pm, the weather will remain dry and warm.

Friday

For Friday, the Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for heavy showers and thunderstorms.

Heavy showers are forecast from 7am and then light rain from 1pm, which will continue throughout the day.

Heavy showers will resume at around 10pm that night.

Saturday

Just when you thought it was over, there’s another yellow weather warning is in place for Saturday – this time for wind.

Unfortunately, there’s more rain forecast, with light showers throughout the day.

It’s also predicted that there will be an outbreak of heavy showers at around 1pm.

Sunday

On the last day of the festival, there are sunny intervals forecast for the morning, which will turn cloudy later on in the day.

Light showers are expected from 1 pm throughout the afternoon.
