Fresh from taking over the Barbican to curate a weekend of music, composer Nils Frahm is releasing a collaborative mini-album with French singer-songwriter Woodkid. Ellis is the soundtrack to a new film about Ellis Island in America, and also features the familiar speaking voice of Robert De Niro.

Since releasing his first album in over a decade in 2014, techno enigma Aphex Twin has been busy putting out shorter collections too. The Cheetah EP is his latest, seven new songs out today with snappy titles such as CIRKLON3 [Колхозная mix].

With four multi-platinum albums behind him, X Factor runner-up turned presenter Olly Murs is now releasing the first song from his fifth. You Don’t Know Love is a dancey tune that’s in download stores today, though all he’s revealed online so far is a snippet on his Instagram feed.

The newly rejuvenenated Pixies are refusing to stick to the nostalgia circuit as they announce their second album since their reformation. Head Carrier is out at the end of September and the dense, squalling first song, Um Chagga Lagga, is on Soundcloud now.

Having asked Izzy Bizu to sing their Euros 2016 theme tune, the BBC continues to support lesser known artists by selecting Not Gonna Break Me by Bristol blues singer Jamie N Commons as the sound of their Rio Olympics coverage. The thunderous song will first be heard on the telly this weekend, and is on YouTube now.
