The world of live music is in flux right now. With coronavirus shuttering venues the world over, artists are finding new ways to get their music out to their fans at home.

Live-streamed gigs are popping up all over the place, with musicians creating makeshift stages in their own homes and performing for thousands online.

Here, we’ve rounded up some of the best streams to tune into this weekend. It’s not quite the same as going out to a gig, but they’re certainly great fun.

From marathon raves to intimate acoustic sets, here’s what to look out for.

Things to do at home to keep entertained during lockdown

1/8

Christine and the Queens

The French artist has been running a series of wonderfully theatrical livestreams each night during the lockdown. She’s been performing her own tracks, doing covers and generally having a grand old time.

Resident Advisor

The online ticketing platform is hosting a 42-hour virtual rave with some big names from the world of clubbing, such as Helena Hauff, Skee Mask and Marcel Dettmann, contributing pre-recorded sets.

Hozier

Hozier, best known for his huge hit Take Me To Church, is partnering with Irish charity ISPCC Childline for a livestream, raising funds and awareness around child abuse during the pandemic.

Ben Gibbard

Ben Gibbard is treating fans to a daily live-stream, playing through some classic tunes from the Death Cab For Cutie back catalogue and taking requests from viewers. He’s raising funds for various charities along the way, too.

Club Q

A queer club night hosted on Zoom, which counts Charli XCX among its previous DJs. There’s a 1,000-capacity here and, once it’s at that limit, there’s a one-in, one-out policy, with organisers asking attendees to make space for those who identify as queer if they themselves do not.

Beatport

Another marathon session, this time organised by online dance hub Beatport. It has enlisted some pretty huge names — Carl Cox, Nina Kraviz and Bonobo among them — for a 24-hour stream, with viewers able to make charity donations throughout.

From 8pm, March 27, twitch.tv

Disclosure

The brotherly DJ duo have launched Self Isolation FM — a live-streamed DJ mix. They’ve already done one round so far, with the second instalment coming up this weekend.

Boiler Room

Boiler Room was running live-streamed events way before it was cool/government-enforced. The platform is renowned for its broadcasts from festivals and clubs, but is now going inside the homes of DJs and artiits for its “Streaming From Isolation” series. Recent streams have been with DJs, but this weekend things are going live as Night Dreamer and Worldwide FM host Joe Armon-Jones, Fatima and Gigi Masin.

Happy at Home — Sound Check Friday

TikTok has been running its Happy at Home series all this week, hosting workout sessions, games nights, Q&As and more. Friday night is for the music fans. Alicia Keys hosts a night of performances with the likes of Troye Sivan, DJ Khaled, Lauv, Megan Thee Stallion, Jason Derulo and others.

From midnight March 27 into early hours of March 28, TikTok
