Tony Bennett tour 2017: London tickets go on sale for Royal Albert Hall shows

The jazz and swing titan plays just two nights at the Royal Albert Hall
The Good Life: Tony Bennett

Jazz icon Tony Bennett is set to perform at the Royal Albert Hall this June, on the 27 and 28, as part of a five date UK tour.

Tickets for the shows are on sale now and can be bought here.

Bennett, 90, who has been singing for more than 70 years, has won 19 Grammys, two Emmys and was once dubbed “the best singer in the business” by none other than Frank Sinatra.

Over the course of his career, which has seen him record almost 100 albums, Bennett has worked with titans of jazz including Count Basie, Bill Evans and Miles Davis.

Known for his frequent collaborations, the I Left My Heart in San Francisco singer has sung with everyone from Ray Charles and BB King to Amy Winehouse and Lady Gaga.

Though Bennett’s smiling image and clean, happy voice has always suggested a man at ease with the world, he struggled significantly throughout the 60s and 70s as rock music wooed the charts, and in 1979 came close to dying after a cocaine overdose. Throughout the 80s, and with the help of his son as his manager, he overcame the tarnished image of a Vegas singer and emerged as one of the greats of jazz and swing.

Interestingly, Bennett was persuaded to Americanise his name by comedian Bob Hope at one of his early shows, but has found frequent artistic success as painter Anthony Benedetto.
