A Surrey auction house will be selling rare Pink Floyd posters today, alongside jewellery worn by Freddie Mercury.

The artefacts will go on sale at Ewbank's auction house on December 13 and are estimated to sell for thousands of pounds each.

The Pink Floyd poster collection dates back to the early days of the band, in 1966 — a year after they formed with frontman Syd Barrett and before the group’s first album The Piper at the Gates of Dawn in 1967. The rare prints shed light on the band’s move to an increasingly psychedelic sound, under the influence of Barrett.

The sale will also feature a necklace that Freddie Mercury wore onstage throughout the late 1970s — at the height of Queen's fame. A number of photographs show the singer wearing the necklace during his live performances and it's estimated the piece will sell for between £2,000 and £4,000.

Ewbank’s Auctions specialist Alastair McCrea said: "As Bohemian Rhapsody, the current biopic of Mercury, shows, his was a star that outshined all around him, making him one of the most legendary music figures of the entire modern music era.

"To be able to offer such an iconic possession from such an iconic figure is a rare privilege indeed."
