EastEnder heads for West End

EastEnders' Nigel Harman is to swap Albert Square for the West End stage as the new star of Guys And Dolls.

As playboy gangster Sky Masterson, he will don a razor-sharp suit that his soap character, Dennis Rickman, could only dream of sporting.

Harman, 32, takes over the role from Ewan McGregor on 5 December, when a one-time soap rival - former Coronation Street actress Sarah Lancashire - joins as Miss Adelaide.

Harman, who appeared in Mamma Mia! before finding TV fame, is said to have thrown his all into rehearsals for the show at the Piccadilly Theatre. Producer Howard Panter said: "He's a pro at the old singing and dancing. I think audiences will be surprised and impressed." He added that Lancashire was "a consummate performer".
