The first images have been released of Gillian Anderson and Lily James in rehearsals for the world premiere of All About Eve.

The show, which opens at the Noel Coward Theatre on February 12, sees Anderson and James star as an acting legend and her number one fan, vying for the spotlight.

Ivo van Hove directs this West End adaptation of the 1950 Bette Davis film, with original music composed by PJ Harvey.

Anderson was last seen on the London stage in A Streetcar Named Desire in 2014, being named best actress at the Evening Standard Theatre Awards. James played Juliet in Kenneth Branagh’s Garrick Theatre season alongside Richard Madden’s Romeo in 2016.

The cast also includes Monica Dolan, Ian Drysdale, Tsion Habte, Jessie Mei Li, Julian Ovenden, Sheila Reid, Rhashan Stone, Stanley Townsend and Philip Voyzey, with set and lighting from Jan Versweyveld, costume design from An D’Huys and sound design from Tom Gibbons.

All About Eve runs February 12-May 11 at the Noel Coward Theatre.
