Heathers the Musical is set to transfer into the West End following a sold out run at The Other Palace.

The show, based on the cult 1988 teen movie starring Winona Ryder, opened in London in June. Carrie Hope Fletcher plays Veronica, a high school nobody who falls in with elite girl gang the Heathers and a misfit called JD.

It will open at the Theatre Royal Haymarket on September 3, with Fletcher reprising her role. Jamie Muscato will also return to play JD, the role made famous by Christian Slater in the original film.

Despite not having a press night, the production had to introduce a ticket lottery after all tickets for the run sold out.

Laurence O’Keefe and Kevin Murphy, the songwriting team behind the show, previously worked on Legally Blonde the Musical and the TV Desperate Housewives respectively.

Work began on the Heathers musical in 2010, with an off-Broadway production taking place in 2013.

Heathers will run at Theatre Royal Haymarket from September 3 to November 24.
