'Horrid' stage debut for Julia

Julia Roberts has been savaged by critics for her stage debut - even though she got a standing ovation.

The star, 38, is performing in the Broadway show Three Days of Rain. She got a loud cheer at the premiere on Wednesday but critics said she was awful.

'I hated the play. To be sadly honest, even hated her,' said New York Post critic Clive Barnes.

'She has the tenseness of a woman who might break into pieces,' added New York Times critic Ben Brantley.

But Roberts is not worried by the attacks. 'I think it went really well, but I don't want to use the word relieved, she said.
