King Lear comes to London

London transfer: The RSC's production of King Lear, which stars King Lear, is coming to the captial

The Royal Shakespeare Company's production of King Lear starring Sir Ian McKellen is to transfer to London this autumn.

The show will open at the New London Theatre in the West End - formerly the home of Cats - in repertory with The Seagull by Chekhov on 12 November.

McKellen's Lear has been running in Stratford-upon-Avon since the beginning of April but critics will be getting their first view tomorrow after the opening night was delayed because Frances Barber, who plays Goneril, had a bicycle accident just before the original press night.

Booking, which opens in September - or July for RSC members - is via www.rsc.org.uk
