Kristin will hand out coveted theatre award

Kristin Scott Thomas, Helen McCrory and Richard Wilson will be among the British acting talent on hand at the 52nd Evening Standard Theatre Awards at the Savoy Hotel on Monday.

Scott Thomas, one of our most accomplished screen actresses, has received rave reviews for West End performances in Three Sisters and As You Desire Me, picking up an Evening Standard award nomination for the latter production last year.

In January, she will star at the Royal Court in Christopher Hampton's long-awaited adaptation of Chekhov's The Seagull, alongside Mackenzie Crook from The Office.

She will present the statuette for best actor to one of three nominees: Kevin Spacey in Eugene O'Neill's A Moon For The Misbegotten; Rufus Sewell in Tom Stoppard's Rock 'N' Roll; or Michael Sheen in Peter Morgan's Frost/Nixon.

Meanwhile, McCrory, who starred as Cherie Blair in the hit movie The Queen, crowns a busy year by handing over the award for best design.

In the running are: David Farley (set and costume) and Timothy Bird (projection) for Sunday In The Park With George; Borkur Jonsson for Metamorphosis; and Christopher Oram for Evita and Frost/Nixon.
