Laughing all the way to the bank

Stephen Mitchell10 April 2012

Raising some reddies for children's charity Scene and Heard, plus a few laughs along the way, this comedy bonanza enters the realms of the surreal (and distinctly blasphemous) with Richard Herring's one-man show, Christ on a Bike - a metaphysical cycle race between the Fist of Fun co-host and JC for the undisputed title of Son of God.

Joining him on the bill is the prince of pints, Al Murray the Pub Landlord, offering some of his irrefutable bar-room bigotry. The bespectacled people's poet John Hegley will perform a selection of his latest works of wordsmithery with the help of the League Against Tedium's gangly despot Simon Munnery.

Finally, Sophie Ellis Bextor proves that she's more than a pouting pop princess (although anyone who's heard the lyrics to her latest single, Murder on the Dancefloor, will already know she's game for a laugh) by providing the evening's soundtrack.
