It wasn’t over. It still isn’t over – the Notebook is back and this time there are songs.

Nicholas Sparks's book and 2004 film starring Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling is being adapted into a musical on Broadway.

Playwright and producer of TV show This Is Us, Bekah Brunstetter, is writing the script, while music and lyrics will be written by singer-songwriter Ingrid Michaelson.

The show will be produced by Kevin McCollum, producer of In The Heights, Avenue Q and The Play That Goes Wrong, and Kurt Deutsch, founder of Sh-K-Boom & Ghostlight Records which won three Grammys for In The Heights, Book of Mormon and Beautiful, in association with author Sparks.

Sparks confirmed the news on Twitter, saying he was “thrilled” to work with the creative team in bringing his debut novel to the stage.

The story follows an old man telling a love story to a woman with Alzheimer’s in a nursing home. He tells her about the romance between Noah, a poor young man, and Allie, a rich teenage heiress.

There is no news on opening date or casting as of yet.
