Piazza the action for dancing Queen

Bobbie Johnson10 April 2012

As part of the Queen's Golden Jubilee celebrations, there's a chance to join in the fun and watch an exclusive performance by the Royal Ballet at Covent Garden.

In honour of fifty years on the throne, the Royal Ballet are preparing a special selection of five decades of dance, including excerpts from Birthday Offering, Marguerite and Armand, Don Quixote, Carmen, Onegin, Romeo and Juliet and the Not only that, but there will also be the central pas de deux from Christopher Wheeldon's ballet, Tryst, dedicated to Her Majesty in her Jubilee Year.

If you can't get hold of tickets to the big event itself, then there are sure to be some jolly japes going on at the Covent Garden Piazza, where the whole show is set to be broadcast on a Big Screen. Attendance to the screening is totally free, and there are no tickets required - but you should turn up early, as the Piazza is likely to be packed with revellers enjoying the show.

All of this is set to take place on Tuesday 23rd July at 7.30pm, and proceeds from the Golden Jubilee Gala are going towards the Jubilee Fund for young dancers and choreographers from The Royal Ballet. There are a limited number of places for people with mobility problems, the elderly and those who use wheelchairs. Those interested can call the Access Ticket Information Line on 020 7302 4000.
