Welcome to this week’s episode of The Standard Theatre Podcast.

Ahead of going on a break, the team looks ahead to the shows they’re most excited about opening over the next six months, and have a chat to two of the hottest properties in British musical theatre.

Lucy Moss and Toby Marlow, the creators of the international smash hit musical Six, talk to Nick Curtis from the Boulevard Theatre in Soho about their much anticipated new show.

Some seven years on from Six’s debut in Edinburgh, before becoming a runaway success in the West End, Broadway and beyond, the writers teased Why Am I So Single? which arrives in London this summer.

The show is about “two friends who are extremely tragic and single, trying to figure out why it is that they are so very alone”, they say. The pair talk about their inspiration for the new show, what it shares with Six and whether they drew on their own dating experiences.

Lucy and Toby talk about their pop inspiration as well as the hot topic of West End ticket prices and how they will ensure fans can access affordable tickets.

Nick and Nancy pick the shows they’re really excited about arriving in the coming months, and the ones you should be booking from Keeley Hawes in The Human Body to Nye with Michael Sheen, and stage adaptations from Minority Report and Spirited Away to Faulty Towers.

Look out too for some of our favourite shows returning including Standing at the Sky’s Edge, Red Pitch and For Black Boys

In news, they discuss tickets for Jamie Lloyd’s Romeo and Juliet starring Tom Holland. Who will play his Juliet though?

Plus, what’s wrong with trigger warnings, Ralph Fiennes?
