Flog It! has been axed by the BBC after 17 years on the channel as part of a daytime TV shakeup by the broadcaster.

The network has called time on the long-running programme, which sees antiques valued, after announcing a new daytime slate for the winter months.

Presented by Paul Martin, members of the public learn the worth of their hidden treasures by enlisting the help of a panel of experts.

Pre-recorded episodes of the programme will be aired early next year before Flog It! vanishes for good after 17 years, over 1,000 episodes and 16 series.

A BBC spokesperson said: “We have announced six new commissions to modernise the BBC One Daytime schedule and to make room Flog It! will not be returning after next year.

“We’d like to thank BBC Studios and host Paul Martin, who we will be working with on other programmes.”

Several of the six new shows focus on the home, with two of the series hopefully, according to McGolpin, looking ahead to a lengthy stay on the channel.

DIY SOS frontman Nick Knowles will host Home Is Where The Art Is where amateur artists go head-to-head to win a paid commission form a homeowner.

The three hopefuls will take a look around the Mystery Buyers’ house to get inspired before pitching their ideas.

The show will air in the afternoons, along with The Customer Is Always Rights, The Best House In Town and seasonal offering Best Christmas Food Ever.

Defenders UK and Britain’s Housing Scandal will be added to the morning programming.
