News has emerged that Brian Belo has left Big Brother.

Channel 5 have confirmed that the contestant, who originally appeared in the eighth series of the show back in 2007, has left “of his own accord”.

However, details concerning the circumstances around Belo’s departure are still under wraps. His Big Brother exit will be featured on tonight’s show at 10pm on Channel 5.

It may be that Belo’s departure is linked to his diary room rant about fellow contestant Helen Wood. In last night’s episode he compared her to a Dementor, the soul-sucking creatures from Harry Potter.

Speaking in the Diary Room, he said: "I'm annoyed at myself for getting highly strung. [Helen] makes me feel so self-conscious. She's like a Dementor. She sucks all my energy.”

Belo slept in the living area last night after a food fight in which contestant Nikki was hurt. A video on the Big Brother website teases that "a fun task turns nasty between Helen and Brian".

Brian re-entered Big Brother over a week ago alongside fellow classic contestants Nikki Grahame and Helen Wood, who won last year’s series. The trio spent a few days in the ‘Timebomb Bunker’ before being integrated into the main house on June 14.
