Reality TV star Brian Belo scaled a wall to set himself free from the Big Brother house following an explosive argument with Helen Wood.

Belo – who was crowned winner when he starred on the show in 2007 – climbed out of the sky room to escape, and later said his experience in the house was like “living in hell”.

An argument escalated between Belo and Wood during a game of “Who’s most likely to…” after Belo agreed that Wood would marry for money.

On hearing the comment, Wood replied: “Straight jackets in the store room. Psycho.”

Clearly distressed, Belo muddled his words as he branded her comment “deflammatory”.

Taking himself to the Diary Room to seek space from his fellow housemates, Belo said: “I feel like I’m being ganged up on. I don’t want to cry. I’ve tried to keep away from there. I shouldn’t have come back here. This is really hard. I feel like I’m living in hell. I’m defeated. I’m getting a barrage of abuse.”

Despite efforts from Nick to stop him, Belo then scaled the wall as he made his escape.

After leaving the Channel 5 show he tweeted: “Take it to the wall #free #bbuk.”

On hearing the news that Belo had left, Nikki Grahame told Big Brother that his departure has made her feel “weak”.

“It would break my heart that those evil bullies drove him out of this house,” she said. “I feel weak here without Brian. I hope I can muster up the strength to get though the next two days.

“I didn’t want to let them ruin this for me. I feel now I’m going to act strong when if I don’t feel strong.”

Big Brother is on Channel 5 tonight at 10pm.
