Blue Planet II has beaten the likes of Strictly Come Dancing and I’m a Celebrity as the most watched TV show of 2017.

BBC held on to the title of broadcaster of the most watched show for another year, however this time it wasn’t The Great British Bake Off.

Blue Planet II drew in 14 million viewers with its first episode which included footage of walruses fighting and a fish that could change sex.

The show tugged at heart strings when David Attenborough warned viewers about the decline of our oceans including horrifying footage of coral bleaching at the Great Barrier Reef.
