Good Morning Britain accidentally use photo of Bonnie Tyler tribute act in 'awkward' interview blunder

Presenters Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid poked fun at their director over the error

Good Morning Britain used a photo of a Bonnie Tyler tribute act instead of the singer in an “awkward” interview mix-up.

The Total Eclipse of the Heart singer, 68, appeared on the ITV breakfast show earlier today to discuss her upcoming concert at the London Palladium.

Before her interview started, the musician informed presenters Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid that one of the photos on the screens behind them was not her.

Morgan exclaimed “This is brilliant!” as his colleague Reid explained to viewers: “We’ve got a picture of Bonnie Tyler that Bonnie Tyler has just pointed out is not Bonnie Tyler.”

Tyler added “That’s not me!” before Morgan claimed that the snap bore a resemblance to fellow 80s star Samantha Fox.

Luckily the singer seemed to see the funny side of the error, bursting out laughing.

The presenters then used the gaffe to poke fun at the Good Morning Britain team, as Reid said: “The whole reason that we come over and sit in front of all these screens is because our director wants these beautiful pictures.”

Morgan added: “It’s our director’s favourite bit - the wall with all these great pictures. Turns out he’s putting pictures up there that actually aren’t the guests!”

He went on to describe the mistake as “awkward” before asking “Who is that random woman?” and inviting “eagle-eyed” viewers to help clear things up

Later in the show, he revealed that they had “solved the mystery of the picture,” telling fans: “Apparently it’s a Bonnie Tyler tribute act.

Producers then corrected their mistake by swapping the image with a recent snap of Tyler performing live, as Morgan told viewers: "We’re going to change her [picture] in real time to Bonnie Tyler. The tribute is no more.”

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays on ITV from 6am.
