The central hook of Channel 4’s First Dates is in the name – hopeful singletons head to a London restaurant to go on a first date with a total stranger.
Except, in the show’s latest Valentine’s special, one couple realised that they knew each other from years and years ago – and had even once dated.
Vincent and Anna hit it off well, and small talk soon revealed that they both grew up in the same area.
“You know I said you look really familiar, you really do and it’s… I’m sure you know my cousin,” an intrigued Anna said.
Of course, it quickly became clear that Vincent did indeed know Anna’s cousin – and the penny soon dropped.
“I think you know me too,” Anna continued. “From years ago.”
It turned out that the pair went to the same school, and had had a previous romantic encounter.
“We went on a date!” a shocked Vincent realised.
Anna confirmed: “I know, that’s what I thought when I walked in!

“When I walked in on the date I thought, oh my god I’m sure I know this guy.
“You’ve actually been to my house when I was younger.”
Things went swimmingly from there, as Vince told the camera: “I do fancy her, and I fancied her years ago. I still do now.”
The pair even shared a kiss at the end of the night.
“I’ve never kissed on a first date, ever,” said Anna – before Vince reminded her: “This isn’t a first date.”
