Former England striker Dion Dublin will join the presenting team on BBC One property programme Homes Under the Hammer, the broadcaster confirmed today.

In a surprise move, Dublin, 45, will join current presenters Martin Roberts and Lucy Alexander on the daytime show in meeting and helping budding property enthusiasts sell their homes.

His only TV experience to-date has been when Dublin appeared on the BBC's Match of the Day 2 as a football pundit.

Dublin will feature in the show's 19th series later this year, which follows the renovation of properties bought at auction before they are sold.

Dublin, who has a long-held passion for property and investment, said: “I am thrilled to be joining Martin and Lucy on Homes Under The Hammer.

"I have a passion for property and look forward to meeting people on the show who share that passion.”

Lisa Hazlehurst, executive producer of the daytime show said: “Dion’s enthusiasm for property is infectious and we’re really excited he is joining Homes Under The Hammer, which has proved such a hit with audiences for more than a decade.”
