Gemma Collins is reportedly lined up for the next series of Celebrity MasterChef as compensation for her fall at the Radio 1 Teen Choice Awards last year.

Collins fell through a trap door as she announced Love Island as the winner of Best TV Show back in October 2017.

The The Only Way Is Essex star later revealed that she was seeking legal advice for what had happened - citing that she was “in pain” the day after - but admitted she could be persuaded to drop potential action if she was given a slot on Strictly.

However, reports suggest that her attempts to get on the hit show have been futile but will instead appear on Celebrity MasterChef.

An insider told The Sun: “After the incident it didn’t look as though Gemma would ever work with the BBC again, but there has been some peace-making behind the scenes.

“Initially she was determined that only Strictly Come Dancing would do, but she’s excited about the prospect of MasterChef and it has very much cooled the tension.

“Everyone is looking forward to having her on. She’s a great character and popular with viewers – she’ll bring something very different to the series.”

When contacted by Standard Online, the BBC told us: "It is nonsense to suggest that the Celebrity Masterchef line up is chosen for any other reason than individuals' suitability as contestants and with our audience in mind. We look forward to announcing this year's line-up, which we know viewers will love."

Following her fall into the machinery pit, the reality star told the publication: “I’ve got to consult a lawyer, yeah. The BBC, they’ve not been in touch with any compensation or anything – or even an apology.

“I am overwhelmed by everyone’s support but if we just take a minute and watch that clip back it could have been the end of The GC. I can’t back down from it.”

The 37-year-old also alleged that people “told her to get up quickly because her legs would get crushed” before she made it back to stage to chat to the ITV2 show stars.
