This Morning viewers have accused show bosses of ‘patronising the working class’ after airing a segment featuring Georgia Toffolo working in KFC.

The Made in Chelsea star, 23, made her way to a branch of the fast food outlet in Glasgow, Scotland, as part of a series of challenges for the ITV show.

On learning she would be serving up fried chicken she said: “I’ve literally just got rid of my spots now I’m going to go work in a greasy chicken shop.”

Toffolo joined the kitchen team battering chicken, before trying her hand on the tills and cleaning the tables.

“I thought this would be so much fun but it’s so stressful,” she said. “I am exhausted. My arms are tired, my brain is tired. I must say it’s quite hot and sweaty back here.”

Concerned with her appearance she asked her boss: “Does it take you long to get the smell of the cooking and the oil out of your clothes and your hair because I am going out this evening so I’m a bit conscious?”

At one point she took a break to talk to customers, telling the camera: “Oh this is a lot better than working.”

On finishing her first shift she said: “That was actually really tough. I’ve got sore feet, my hair’s a tiny bit greasy and I’m a tiny bit stinky.

Viewers were fuming with the segment with one branding it “pathetically patronising”.

One user tweeted: “Who decided to send Toff to ‘hahahaha work in a KFC’ ...for all the people who have to, or have had to, work in these type of jobs it is pathetically patronising to let her play at it for an hour before she heads home to her mansion #thismorning.”

Another wrote: “#ThisMorning find this twat toff segment each week so insulting to people that work in those jobs ! Even the headline from chelsea to chicken.”

In previous shows Toffolo has swept chimneys in Sussex and worked underground cleaning sewers in Manchester.

This Morning is on ITV, weekdays at 10:30am
