With new Star Wars film The Force Awakens out in a matter of days, it was always a topic that was going to come up when Tina Fey a huge fan of the sci-fi saga appeared on the Graham Norton Show.

The comedy star did her best Princess Leia impression – complete with improvised hair buns – on the red sofa with actor Kurt Russell taking the Han Solo role.

In fact, it was a part that Russell almost played in real life – he originally auditioned for the sci-fi rogue and the straight-laced Luke Skywalker, but backed out of the process to pursue other work.

It’s not the first time that Fey has taken the Princess Leia role, either.

She often dressed up as the character on her hit sitcom 30 Rock, with her character Liz Lemon donning the white robes every time she was called for jury duty in an attempt to be dismissed from court.

“I tell you, if you want to meet some perverts, dress up like Princess Leia,” Fey laughed. “Some guy from the crew you’ve never met before will come talk to you. There’s a real, specific pervert that likes that.”
