Robson Green has revealed he was “reprimanded” after a prank he pulled saw James Norton plunge into a lake.

Green said he feared his Grantchester co-star would have to be rushed to hospital after he chucked a bucket of cold water over him.

Recalling the incident he told the Daily Express: “No, that wasn't a prank. That wasn't meant to happen. I s*** myself.

“Seriously, I thought I put one of the most up and coming, exciting, charismatic actors in f****** hospital.”

He continued: “I thought it would be funny to throw a bucket of water over him and he fell over the edge and just disappeared.

“I thought, 'Oh my God, he's gone, he's done.' The horror of the telling off I got from the execs and producers - I was reprimanded.”

The accident happened while filming the second series of the ITV drama last summer.

Video footage shows Green sneaking up behind Norton before emptying a bucket of cold water over his head.

Shocked by the sudden splash, Norton stumbled backwards and slipped into the lake.

A panicked Green can be seen rushing over before holding his head in his hands as Norton pops out of the water.”
