This Morning’s Alison Hammond was left red-faced after being called out by Phillip Schofield for a Cannes Film Festival gag – moments before revealing she has landed a Hollywood role.

Hammond, who is on the French Riviera for the annual event, was given the chance to see the prestigious Palme D’Or award up close. On admiring the Chopard-designed gong she accidentally referred to it as a “Par D’Or”.

Unaware of her mistake, Schofield took it upon himself to clear up the error as they cut back to the studio.

He said: “Something I want to clear up here when you win in Cannes. There is a small town in Cornwall near St Austell called Par....”

“And if you win at the Cannes Film Festival you win two things: their highly prestigious doors in the small town of Par. A Par door. And the gift that was in that box which is a Palme D'Or.

“What Alison was telling you about was completely correct because it’s a door from Par…”

Breaking the news she said: “It’s Hotel Transylvania 3: A Monster Vacation – so it’s just my voice. It’s an animation film. It’s the third film.

“You’ll know that the first film made like $400 million worldwide. It’s a big film!

“I’m actually taking it quite seriously! She’s beautiful [my character], she’s got a sexy body, red hair and I’m going to have a love affair with Adam Sandler’s character.”
