This week’s episode of the Graham Norton Show saw Kate Winslet take to the red sofa, talking her upcoming film roles, her new pigs, and her Oscar win.

Soon to star in The Dressmaker, Winslet discussed the pros of the job – namely, shooting a scene that involved co-star Liam Hemsworth taking his shirt off.

“We struggled to keep a straight face during that scene,” the actress recalled. “Poor Liam, for 12 hours straight we kept making him take his clothes off. We didn’t mean to!

“My teenage daughter was furious that I got to be the same space as him and at that moment. She just made a series of sounds!”

She is also soon to appear in Danny Boyle’s new Steve Jobs film as Joanna Hoffman. She revealed that she submitted a video audition to the filmmakers after visiting a wig shop because she doesn’t look like the real Hoffman.

“We shoved my hair under a short dark wig and put some glasses on, took a selfie and sent it to the producer and it did the trick,” she said. “Danny Boyle offered me the part. It was fantastic because I am 40 now, and as you go along in your career the moment to audition for things doesn’t really come up that often.”

As well as discussing her new pet pigs (“called Mabel and Socks”), Winslet spoke about winning an Oscar for 2008 film The Reader.

“It was a fantastic moment – one of the biggest in my life,” she said, joking: “I keep it in the loo so people can practice their acceptance speeches.”
