No matter what it is you’re into, you can be 99% sure that you’ll be able to find it on the internet.

But while the world wide web is a treasure trove of the weird and wonderful, what if there’s something you really want to see but can’t find anywhere?

Step in Restrained Elegance, a company, run by husband and wife duo Howell and Joceline, that creates bespoke videos for people based on their preferences and, well, festishes.

It’s a passion project for the pair, who openly admit to their love of BDSM, but also a lucrative one – so much so that Howell quit his job as a particle physics professor to pursue their business full time.

They’re the subject of Channel 4’s new documentary Kinky Britain, looking at the people who create custom content that satisfies Britain’s hidden desires. As many Channel 4 sex-based documentaries show, we’re perhaps not as repressed a nation as we always think.

It’s not just Howell and Joceline who are in the amateur video market – take 23 year-old Michelle, who has turned internet entrepreneur.

Her videos are unconventional, though not expressly sexual – some clients like to see close-up footage of her biting through gummy bears, or cleaning her ears, or crushing meringues with her feet.

“Some models can earn up to £10,000 a month doing the most basic of fetish clips, because they’ve built up that fanbase,” she explains.

“They’ve got 100, 200, 500 people who will buy any clip that they make, so of course it can be lucrative. But you have to put the work in.”

Channel 4’s film offers insight not only into the strange clips that service users ask for, but the people who have taken it upon themselves to make those desires come true.
