Love Island's Lucie admits she's open to finding someone NEW as Joe waits for her on the outside

The surfer made the confession ahead of last night's recoupling

Love Island contestant Lucie Donlan has revealed that she’d be open to moving on from Joe Garratt after his departure from the villa.

The pair’s romance was cut short when sandwich seller Joe was sent home last week following a public vote alongside Elma Pazar.

Speaking to fellow islander Anton Danyluk ahead of last night’s surprise recoupling, the model and surfer confessed that she would be keen to get to know new contestants if they were her type on paper.

“If you’re just here to float, that’s pointless. You may as well go home to Joe,” Anton said, before asking: “What I want to know is are you open to finding someone else?”

“Joe is a proper city party boy and I’m completely the opposite but I liked him and he liked me,” she admitted.

“And that’s what it was but imagine if I left here and that surf guy walks through the door. I would be absolutely gutted.

“I would be open to getting to know him and I feel guilty as hell for saying it because I do like Joe but at the end of the day this is what I’ve come here for.”

Dumped: Yewande left the show last night

With Lucie's comments in mind, Anton eventually chose to couple up with her to give her another shot at love in the villa, meaning that Yewande Biala was dumped from the island.

Speaking to Caroline Flack on Love Island spin-off Aftersun following his departure, Joe said that he will be “waiting” for Lucie on the outside and shared his hopes that they will “reunite” when the show is over.

“We both applied for a great experience and the summer of a lifetime and we had that,” he said. “We had such a great time together.

“When I went, I wanted her to get the best experience and that was a fact for me, I wanted her to have a great time and stuff.

“If I was controlling in the slightest I would have asked her to come. But I reassured her and said that I’ll still be waiting on the outside. Hopefully we’ll reunite on the outside.”

Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2.
