But you’ll have to be in America to watch it

It’s a Mary Berry miracle – just when you thought the forthcoming Christmas episodes of The Great British Bake Off were all you had to look forward to, the baking queen provides once again.

The legendary judge – who has now quit the main Bake Off over the show's move to Channel 4 – has a entirely new baking competition series that’s about to air.

The good news is, that means eight brand new episodes of Mary Berry judging cakes.

The bad news is, it’s an American show – and there doesn’t seem to be a UK channel for it… yet.

The Great American Baking Show is arriving on ABC in the States on Friday December 2, and it’s based on the British original.

“In a magical, warm yet utterly dramatic eight-part series, a selection of the nation's best amateur bakers will compete in a series of themed challenges and eliminations as they look to be crowned America's Best Amateur Baker,” a description of the show reads – sounds like Bake Off to us.

Like the British Bake Off, there’s a signature, technical, and showstopper challenge in each episode, and the contestants compete to be named Star Baker.

While there’s no Mel and Sue, the US show has an unexpected presenting duo – My Big Fat Greek Wedding actor Nia Vardalos and her husband Ian Gomez.

Even if there are no plans for the episodes to air in the UK for now, at least they exist – and resourceful Bake Off fans might find a way to watch them.

Otherwise, there’s still the two-part BBC special with the original quartet of Mary Berry, Paul Hollywood, and Mel and Sue, which will welcome back former Bake Off contestants to whip up some festive favourites.
