After seven weeks of intense culinary challenges, the final three contestants of MasterChef will be battling it out tonight to seize the title.
The remaining candidates are Simon Wood, notoriously calm, collected, and consistent, Emma Spitzer, who cooks with real heart and passion, and Tony Rodd, the eccentric with the memorable moustache. The three of them have one last shot to impress judges John Torode and Gregg Wallace with the hopes of winning the show.
The first part of the final aired last night, and saw the finalists cooking a three course menu set up by three-Michelin-star Italian chef Massimo Bottura, whose thick accent coupled with his favourite phrase (“focus!”) led to much confusion on Twitter.
The team cooked Bottura’s menu as part of the terrifying Chef's Table challenge, with the finished food served to Michelin-starred chefs Marcus Wareing, Daniel Clifford, Andrew Fairlie, Anthony Demetre and Italian chef Francesco Mazzei.

Spitzer cooked the starter, Rodd the main course and Wood served up dessert, with all three receiving positive comments from the Chef’s Table. They were agreed that the food served by the finalists could have been mistaken for food from Massimo Bottura himself – it truly is all to play for in the final round.
Wood said: "My dream is to make a comfortable living doing something that I love, and hopefully give people a great memory and experience along the way."
