Never Have I Ever soundtrack: Every song that features in the Netflix comedy

From pop bangers to Bollywood anthems, here's every track that features in Netflix's Never Have I Ever...
1/5

Coming of age comedy-drama Never Have I Ever is the latest creation from multi-talented actress, writer and producer Mindy Kaling.

Funny, quick-witted and disarmingly emotional, the Netflix series has also been hailed as a watershed moment for South Asian representation on-screen.

The story centres on Devi Vishwakumar (played by Maitreyi Ramakrishnan), a 15-year-old Indian-American high schooler in California. Devi’s had a less than ideal freshman year – she lost her dad and the ability to walk for three months – but now, by asking her Hindu gods “what’s poppin’”, she’s ready for a new year.

Devi is determined to – in her own words – be cool, get hot and snag a boy. Her big plans for her sophomore year at high school include going to a party with alcohol, and finding a “stone cold hottie who could rock me all night long".

The soundtrack follows in the same way as the show – 90s bangers that will make you feel like a teenager again, but then some real tear-jerkers that spring up out of nowhere.

One of the first songs you hear is Robyn’s Dancing On My Own, a solid gold choice, but one you hope won’t be Devi’s theme this year – as she’s got her eye on dancing with the hottest boy in school – Paxton Hall-Yoshida (Darren Barnet).

From the synthy-pop of Selebrities and Oblieques to the hazy indie whispers of The Shacks, peppered with hip hop and rap classics like Tia P’s Get Loud, the soundtrack is as eclectic and exciting as the show itself. There’s also some Bollywood hits in there, naturally.
