Holly Willoughby was left in fits of laughter after Phillip Schofield fell flat on the floor on This Morning.

Schofield, 54, fell victim to karma after he was pulled by surprise by the show’s resident dog, Clover, and left face down on his hands.

The TV presenter had been teasing the dog by making her wait for treats – but she decided to get her own back and embarrass Schofield on live TV.

“You know I always give it to you in the end if you’re a good girl," he said to Clover. "You’re a good girl. Sit, up, sit.”

Wanting him to put Clover out of her misery, Willoughby pleaded: “Oh can you just give it to her?”

Schofield finally gave her a bone and was midway through introducing the next segment when Clover took him by surprise and pulled on the lead.

He lurched forward and landed on all fours – much to his co-host’s amusement.

Trying to regain his composure, Schofield said: “She took me at an angle. She went at the angle.”

To which Willoughby replied through laughter: “That was fantastic.”

It wasn't the only incident to kick start the giggles on Monday's show. The pair fooled around with Chewbacca masks as they discussed US woman Candace Payne who went viral with her uncontrollable laughter as she recorded herself wearing the funny face.
