Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid were left disgusted by a guest’s comments as they discussed Kanye West’s controversial comments on slavery .

The Good Morning Britain hosts were left aghast, along with other guest Trisha Goddard and viewers, as Reverend Jesse Lee Peterson claimed that the Black Lives Matter movement was an “evil organisation just like the Kl Klux Klan” moments after claiming that racism is a “lie”.

Peterson then went on to seek to discredit the movement before Morgan jumped in to put an end to his tirade.

Incensed, he said: “Mr Peterson, you’re now descending into extremely unpleasant and frankly vile rhetoric.

“I don’t know why you think this is appropriate to say this on national television but what you just said is completely unacceptable.”

As the presenters looked unimpressed, Morgan threw the conversation back to Goddard before the debate ended with her telling Peterson there is something “very, very wrong”.

Morgan said: “We would get a response from him but we cut his microphone because he was spewing such unpleasant stuff.

“We don’t mind having a debate about this but when it descends into rampant homophobia, you don’t get to say any more on this programme. You get your mic removed.

“Mr Peterson, if I were you I would think very carefully about what you are thinking and saying here because I think a lot of black people in America think you and Kanye and others are doing them a massive disservice.”

On Tuesday, West said in an interview: "When you hear about slavery for 400 years — for 400 years? That sounds like a choice.

“Like, you were there for 400 years and it's all of y'all ... It's like we're mentally in prison.”

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV.
