Rachel Weisz has admitted she was expelled from school for having an “authority problem”.

The actress made the admission on The Graham Norton Show, and revealed that she’d had a tricky childhood.

Weisz said: “I was very badly behaved […] I didn’t just do one bad thing, it was multiple things. I had an authority problem and was very disruptive .”

The actress, who is known for being reserved when it comes to publicity and her celebrity status, admitted that her mum doesn’t like her telling people she was expelled, preferring the term “asked to leave.”

“My mother likes to say, ‘They asked you to leave,’ which is an important distinction,” Weisz said.

The actress also shared her views on Donald Trump in the light of the unfolding James Comey scandal, saying: “It’s good for comedy and satire but not much else – poor planet earth, women’s rights and health care.”

Weisz, who was on the chat show to promote her new film My Cousin Rachel, revealed she was nearly squashed by a horse, which had been trained on Game of Thrones, during one of her riding scenes.

“It had had been taught to ‘die’ when the left rein was pulled so when I finished a scene and pulled on the left rein he did an elegant collapse on top of me”, she said.

“It wasn’t un-painful! It was okay but there was a horrible silence on set until everyone realised I was alright.”

Boxer Anthony Joshua, Sherlock star Martin Freeman and comedian and Inbetweeners schoolmaster Greg Davies are also appearing on Norton’s red sofa this week, with Shawn Mendes performing in the studio.

The Graham Norton Show airs tonight on BBC One at 11pm.
