Seann Walsh has spoken out about the Katya Jones Strictly kiss scandal, admitting it made him realise he was ‘abusive’ for cheating and lying.

The comedian hit the headlines last October when he was pictured kissing his married professional partner despite being in a relationship with actress Rebecca Humphries.

Walsh denied all claims at the time, insisting he was “not the person he was being portrayed as”, but has now admitted that the statement forced him to “look at himself and change”.

“At first it’s denial, initially you look at that and you go, ‘No absolutely not.’ But with time, someone that you cared about has written that about you and posted that and I think that actually, yes she was right what she said,” he told Jonathan Ross.

“I think if you lie and cheat on the person that you’re meant to care for and be in a relationship with, then that is a form of abuse, of course it is. All I can be is as sorry as I am. I hope one day that she’ll forgive me.”

The star added that he was “grateful” for the statement because he has since “looked at himself and tried to change”, taking on board the accusations levelled at him.

Addressing the illicit kiss directly, Walsh said that he will “always be sorry about what he did” and that he still “cares and respects” Humphries.

Walsh told the show: “I think when it all blew up, I don’t think I reacted in the correct manner. I didn’t know what to do, it was huge.

“I think when you have gone through something like that, you end up thinking in cliches, like ‘If I could go back in time, I’d behave differently and treat her differently’ but unfortunately all I can be is as sorry as I am and as regretful as I am.”

In the wake of the scandal last year, Jones insisted that her marriage to fellow Strictly professional Neil was “absolutely fine” and apologised for her own indiscretions.

Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson, Bryan Adams, Jennifer Hudson and will.i.am will also join Ross.
