Sir David Attenborough is back on screen with a brand new nature documentary following some of the biggest dynasties in the animal kingdom.

To mark World Animal Day, the BBC unveiled the two-minute trailer showing Attenborough’s landmark documentary coming soon to the network.

The series will focus on five species, all of which are “celebrated yet endangered”, including emperor penguins, tigers and lions.

Attenborough, 92, will front the series which is his first major small screen project since Planet Earth II and Blue Planet II.

Each episode will have a different focus, with hunting dogs and chimpanzees also under observation throughout.

The five-part series examines life for these colonies and the pressure these animals live under – from their own kind and the ever-changing planet.

In a statement when the show was announced, BBC Director of Content Charlotte Moore said: “The wonderful David Attenborough will inspire audiences once again when he brings the natural world to life.

“Four years in the making, capturing extraordinary family dynamics and behaviour, I hope these intimate animal dramas will connect with audiences just as Blue Planet II and Planet Earth II did.”

Dynasties will air on BBC One.
