The first batch of this year’s celebrities took to the dance floor tonight in the first live episode of Strictly Come Dancing.

Following on from last month’s launch show, stars including Carol Kirkwood, Kellie Bright and Helen George showed off their best moves for the first time.

While fans got a sneak peak at what the line-up had to offer when the celebs were paired with their professionals, this was the first time they performed routines on their own, and it was certainly a mixed bag.

While Helen George and Aljaž Skorjanec blew the judges away with their waltz, earning themsleves three sevens and an eight, Carol Kirkwood failed to impress.

Despite a number of weather-based puns, the presenter got a dismal two from Craig Revel Horwood.

EastEnders actress Kellie Bright also impressed the judges by showing off her rather impressive flexibilty during her tango with Kevin Clifton.

The remaining nine contestants will perform on Saturday night.
