Plenty of 10s have been dished out in Strictly Come Dancing history but until Saturday night, none of them had gone to Anton du Beke.

The professional dancer, 53, has been paired with a celebrity in all 17 series of the show and in the current series, he’s dancing with EastEnders actress Emma Barton.

In this week’s live show, which took place in the famous Blackpool Tower ballroom, the duo performed an American Smooth to Let's Face the Music and Dance by Ella Fitzgerald.

When they completed their routine, Emma, 42, was close to tears as the emotion of the occasion took over.

They then received favourable comments from the judges before the all-important scoring saw Shirley Ballas and Bruno Tonioli both award them 10s.

Craig Revel Horwood and Motsi Mabuse scored them eight and nine respectively, giving them a total of 37.

Emma and Anton both broke out into tears as Claudia Winkleman revealed that it was the first time in the show’s 17 year history that Anton had received the top mark.

“This must be how Kevin Clifton feels,” Anton joked. “It’s lovely.”

Elsewhere in the episode, numerous other couples received high scores with Kelvin Fletcher and Oti Mabuse earning 39 points for their jive.

Chris Ramsay was also overjoyed to receive nines from Shirley and Bruno, as was footballer Alex Scott.
