Strictly Come Dancing will go ahead with a live audience sat cabaret-style for this year’s series.

The BBC revealed on their website that fans will be able to apply for tickets for Strictly shows, with bookings allocated to groups of four people.

Instead of the usual rows of seats, the groups will be distanced through cabaret-style tables.

“To make the most of the limited space we'll have in the studio this year because of our social distancing measures, for the first time ever tickets will be allocated to groups of four, allowing you to come along as a family bubble / household group,” the BBC release read.

“We'll be able to seat family groups of four people from the same household / social bubble at cabaret tables and in balcony seating.

“Cabaret tables and balcony seats will be allocated randomly, in advance of your arrival at the studio.”

All audience members will be required to wear face coverings while at Elstree studios, where Strictly is filmed.

This year’s series has made a number of adjustments to the usual running of the show, including a reduced number of contestants, with 12 competing compared to the normal 16.

This year's youngest contestant is 21-year-old YouTuber-turned-singer HRVY.

Former Home Secretary Jacqui Smith will be hoping to win over the nation, while The Wanted's Max George has big shoes to fill after his bandmate Jay McGuiness won the contest back in 2015.

Actors Caroline Quentin and Maisie Smith will also take part, as will Radio 1 fan favourite Clara Amfo and former Invictus Games competitor JJ Chalmers.

Jason Bell, Bill Bailey, Ranvir Singh, Jamie Laing and Nicola Adams round out the contestants.

The series will be a slightly shorter run than normal, while Bruno Tonioli will be absent for some of this year’s series as he films Dancing with the Stars in the US.

It has also been announced that Strictly will not return to Blackpool this year.
