Joe McFadden said he was “speechless” as he was crowned winner of Strictly Come Dancing 2017.

The Holby City star beats fellow finalists Alexandra Burke, Debbie McGee and Gemma Atkinson to the Glitterball Trophy after three dances during Saturday’s live final

“This feels complete surreal. I’m so in awe of everyone who started all those weeks ago,” he told Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman.

McFadden’s Viennese Waltz was described as “perfect” by Shirley Ballas earlier in the show, while his Charleston was called simply “fabulous" by Craig Revel Horwood.

The actor was neck-and-neck with Burke during the final, as both received a number of perfect scores.

The pop star bounced back from criticism over her ‘fake’ attitude with a series of stunning performances.

The judges picked the first dance for the four couples, with Burke and partner Gorka Marquez up first up with their American Smooth from Movie Week.

Debbie McGee was given the Salsa, which she struggled with when she performed it earlier in the series.

“It was spectacular darling,” said Revel Horwood. “Just amazing.”

Gemma Atkinson was told she was “on fire” after her Pasa Doble, which won rave reviews from the judges, gaining her two ‘9s’ and two ‘10s’.
