The Strictly Come Dancing competition is hotting up as we hit the halfway mark.

Despite injury to Stacey Dooley and the loss of yet another celebrity last week , the cast of 2018 are ready to return to the dance floor tonight.

Week SEV-ERN (for you, Len) has seen its fair share of talent over the years – once upon a time, it was the semi-final week and occasionally marks the first 40.

Here are our five top picks from the week seven archives…

Series 2 (2004): Denise Lewis and Ian Waite – Tango

In this series, the second of the debut year, week seven was the semi-final meaning there was an incredibly high standard.

Dressed all in gold, and dancing to Shirley Bassey classic Goldfinger, the athlete scored three 9s and an 8 to top round one of the night. They later finished first overall that week with 71 combined.

Series 4 (2006) – Matt Dawson and Lilia Kopylova – Waltz

A traditional Waltz to timeless Louis Armstrong classic What A Wonderful World saw Kopylova – dressed in a pink gown – and rugby man Dawson score 37.

They topped the pile and chose to perform the dance again weeks later in the final, which they won.

Series 6 (2008) – Tom Chambers and Camilla Dallerup – Paso Doble

Actor Chambers stomped around, put his angriest face on and hit some impressive lines during his Paso to Cutting Crew’s (I Just) Died In Your Arms Tonight.

The eventual champions didn’t top the leader board during week seven, but still managed a high-scoring 34.

Series 8 (2010) – Scott Maslen and Natalie Lowe – Jive

The pair's routine paid tribute to Maslen's EastEnders character, Jack Branning, with their track Hit The Road Jack. They were just one point off a perfect score for their fast and furious Jive.

Having established himself as a frontrunner in the Latin dances in previous weeks, the Jive blew everyone away – but it wasn’t enough for a 10 from Craig Revel Horwood.

Series 15 (2017) – Debbie McGee and Giovanni Pernice – Tango

Ballerina McGee, by now, had made her mark on the competition as a sexy, sultry and talented frontrunner and week seven marked a milestone moment – her first 40 (and the series’ first).

Dancing to I’ve Gotta Feeling, the couple proved it was a good, good night as they kicked their way to a full house. Mazel tov!
