Singer Jay McGuiness has won the 2015 series of Strictly Come Dancing.

The former pop star from boyband The Wanted took the top prize after seeing off stiff competition from EastEnders actress Kellie Bright and Coronation Street’s Georgia May Foote.

While it was Bright who topped the leaderboard from the judges’ scores, after receiving full marks for her tango and show dance, the results came down entirely to the public vote.

McGuiness and Vilani received the lowest scores of the final three, but earned 39 points for their final Paso Doble to Bon Jovi hit It’s My Life.

“I feel spaced out and really weird,” the shocked star said after receiving the news. “It’s been one of the most special things that I’ve ever done, with the most special person.”

Speaking to Aliona, Jay said: “You deserve it so much, you really do.”

He also thanked those who watched and voted for him, saying: “I’m really happy that you liked it.”

McGuiness frequently scored highly throughout the series, and became an early frontrunner after receiving 37 points for his Pulp Fiction-themed Jive in the third week of the competition.
