Sue Johnston had revealed that she hasn’t felt able to watch any episodes of The Royle Family since the death of her co-star Caroline Aherne.

Johnston was appearing on Loose Women, when she told the panel she also hadn’t removed the actress’ number from her phone.

A visibly emotional Johnston said: I’ve not been able to watch any since she’s gone. I haven’t even taken her number out of my phone, I can’t do delete.

She also shared that the remaining castmembers are set to reunite for the first time after Aherne passed away.

‘We’re all going to have a little reunion,’ she explained. ‘They’re getting us all together. I’ve seen people individually but it’s going to be hard.

“If you don’t see people regularly, you don’t miss them continuously. But then suddenly you get a realisation that she’s gone.”

Johnston and Aherne starred together in The Royle family from 1998-2012.

The sitcom depicted the life of an ordinary family in Manchester, who got together in front of the telly.

It’s said to have inspired Channel 4 reality show Gogglebox, on which Aherne and Craig Cash (who played on screen husband David), were narrators.

Johnston played the family matriarch Barbara Royle, opposite Ricky Tomlinson as dad Jim, with Aherne as their daughter Denise.

Loose Woomen continues weekdays at 12.30pm on ITV.
