After the drama of last week’s brutal triple firing, you’d be forgiven for thinking that it would be a quieter week in The Apprentice.

But while there wasn’t as big a shock as that, the episode still had its moments of drama and cringe-worthy conversations.

Falling into both of those camps was the moment in the boardroom where candidate Scott Saunders wrongly accused his co-team member of Brett Butler-Smythe of threatening to “smash [his] face in” during an argument on the task.

The heated exchange came in a task which saw the teams attempt to sell wholesale items at bargain discount prices in Manchester.

Asked why he had brought Brett into the boardroom with him, Scott explained that he finds Brett a “very bullish” character.

Brett defended his demeanour, saying: “Yes, me and Scott bumped heads in the shop, I didn’t like the way in which he spoke to me, however I still done what he had asked.”

Scott used the pair’s on-task argument to question Brett’s confrontational approach, but ended up making a claim that his team-mate said was not true.

“There’s a certain way to deal with things, you might not have agreed with how I spoke to you, but it just escalated,” Scott said, adding: “You said you’d smash my face in.”

Brett immediately denied the accusation, and was backed up by fellow candidate Sam Curry.

“He didn’t say that. He didn’t say that Scott, that’s not fair,” Sam said.

It was down to Baroness Karren Brady to clarify the situation.

“No, he didn’t say that,” she confirmed. “He said ‘If you talk to me like that again’, and then it just ended.”

A clearly embarrassed Scott reneged on his accusation, claiming it was misremembered.

“OK, the ‘smash your face in thing’, maybe I got that wrong, I thought I heard that,” he said.

With the two candidates still remaining in the process after Sam was fired, will the two come to blows in the rest of the series? Don't rule it out.
