After 10 weeks of sumptuous signature bakes, tempestuous technical challenges, and stunning showstoppers, Nadiya Hussain has won the latest series of The Great British Bake Off.

Hussain quickly became a fan favourite on the show due to her hilarious facial expressions (she’s a baker with the exact opposite of a poker face), her quick wit, and her jaw-droppingly creative bakes.

In her time on the show, she created a cake featuring a floating soda can, and a particularly impressive chocolate peacock.

Hussain edged ahead of fellow contestants Tamal Ray and Ian Cumming in a close finale which saw the bakers tasked with making iced buns and a classic British cake.

Ian and Nadiya had both won the coveted Star Baker accolade three times through the series, while Tamal amassed a huge fan following thanks to his good looks (and his baking, of course).

While the nation mourns the end of the annual baking contest, applications have opened for next year’s show – find out how to apply here.
