Relley C lost out on her place in The X Factor after losing a sing-off to girl group Four of Diamonds.

The 26-year-old hopeful found herself in the bottom two, but failed to win over the judges with her rendition of Bonnie Raitt’s I Can’t Make You Love Me.

Relley’s mentor Sharon Osbourne was the only judge to vote to save her.

Fighting back tears as she spoke to host Dermot O’Leary, she said: “From the start I said if I could make it to the first live show I would be happy.

“What an experience it’s been. There was a time when I thought I’d give up on music all together but I’m so glad I didn’t because it bought me here.”

Osbourne said: “She’s a strong girl. She’s a fighter and she will come back.”

The Birmingham-born contestant battled through a virus earlier in the week and was forced to go on voice rest which saw her miss out on a day of rehearsals.

She was pictured wearing a ‘VOICE REST’ badge and carrying a voice steamer in a bid to recover ahead of Saturday night’s show.

Nicole Scherzinger’s Ryan Lawrie found himself in the bottom three but survived thanks to the Lifeline vote for a second consecutive week.

The Scottish hopeful looked shocked when his name was read out and his girlfriend – and fellow X Factor singer – Emily Middlemas was in tears.

Honey G’s rendition of Ice Ice Baby saw her survive another week – much to the annoyance of some viewers who were left fuming that she got through over Relley.

One viewer tweeted: “What?! @Relley_C was amazing!!! How is honey G still there... Actually how did she get to lives in the first place!”

Another wrote: “This is the first time I agree that this show is a fix. If not, why would they be having the #HoneyG comp each week?”

A third posted: “I'm sure @TheXFactor is supposed to be a singing competition!? Can anyone explain why the public kept #HoneyG in and not #RelleyC.”

Musical entertainment came from Busted, Shawn Mendes and John Legend on Sunday night’s show.

The remaining nine contestants will take part in Fright Night for Halloween weekend.
