X Factor trailer 2017: ITV release first look ahead of new series

The new series of the singing competition is due to start this autumn

A new trailer for the 2017 series of the X Factor has been released, taking viewers on a whistle-stop tour of the previous 13 series.

There’s Dermot O’Leary meeting a young Harry Styles on the red carpet, Rylan Clark-Neal’s iconic meltdown on Nicole Scherzinger’s sofa and Little Mix telling their families they got through to the next stage.

O’Leary narrates the clip with a rhyming voice over: “Then boom, you’re inside the room, budding pop stars, indie lads with guitars and some right hoo-has. Bootcamp time, another mountain to climb. Sing and shout, let’s hug it out.”

As well as the show itself, the trailer gives hopefuls a glimpse of the glittering future they could achieve if they’re successful on the show.

It provides a useful refresher of the competition stages - speeding through auditions, bootcamp, the six-chair challenge, judges houses and the live shows, and hints that despite rumours of a shake-up to the process this year, the core structure is set to remain largely the same.

Earlier this year, it was reported that head judge Simon Cowell would be making some changes to the show, including holding auditions at Thorpe Park and timing the auditions to hurry the process up.

A spokesperson for ITV confirmed that Scherzinger, Sharon Osbourne and Louis Walsh will once again be joining Cowell on the judging panel, with O’Leary on hosting duties.

A statement read: “The search for a music superstar gets underway as The X Factor returns to ITV this autumn.

“The nation’s most talked about entertainment show sees Sharon Osbourne, Nicole Scherzinger and Louis Walsh reunited with music mogul Simon Cowell on the judging panel. Dermot O’Leary is also back to host the 14th series which returns soon to ITV. This series has held auditions across the UK.”

The X Factor will air on ITV this autumn.
